A (modest) step up from the Grammys
I'd been informed that I was actually nominated for something, so I clicked over to check out the myriad categories.
One question -- logically, how is it possible for Virginia Postrel to be nominated for Best Overall Blog, but not for Best Female Authored Blog? [What business is it of yours?--ed. Check out thethis map! I'm just sticking up for my country.]posted by Dan on 12.05.03 at 03:11 PM
Logically that make sense, but in practice I limited sites from appearing in too many categories. The idea for the whole thing was a somewhat eqaul playing field (i.e. the Ecosystem categories) and to get as many sites in the mix as possible.
Plus she wasn't nominated in that category...posted by: Kevin on 12.05.03 at 03:11 PM [permalink]
Vizbangius, Dreznaw, and Postreland are all located close to each other. Some would say that's just a coincidence. :)posted by: The Commissar on 12.05.03 at 03:11 PM [permalink]

Hey, I was nominated as one of the 20 "best liberal blogs" (which is fine with me, despite the fact that a number of folks have said I'm a libertarian blogger, and plenty of lefties say I'm either a conservative or a traitor, but definitely not a lefty or liberal; all which is even more fine with me), but not as one of the "large mammals," despite that latter category being Extra-Large. C'est la vie, c'est la polls, c'est la blogging. (Is a blog masculine or feminine as a noun?; come to think of it, why is life female?)posted by: Gary Farber on 12.05.03 at 03:11 PM [permalink]
Did you also know that you were selected as a "Conservative Stud"?
In answer to Mr. Carter's question at the bottom of that entry, if he wants a photo of me, he can find one right here. :-)
