UPDATE: One small note: if it seems like I did not pick up on every point Garance made, this had to do with our phone connection. I could not completely hear all of her points.

Dan, In the segment you wondering if McCain is colonial. He is being advised by Niall Ferguson, who obviously is an enthusiast for empire. I don't know what that means but it is interesting.

I actually thought YOU performed reasonably well. It's the case that you do better when paired with more analytical minds, but I think you responded reasonably well to Franke-Ruta's weak offerings.
Even though I consider myself a liberal I consistently find myself thinking that you're one of the few discussants who isn't a waste of my time. When Franke-Ruta started saying that she had a friend who thought X and that this must infer Y about the political climate I wanted to choke myself. (The Drezner-Yglesias pairings, on the other hand, are top notch.)
