The Westminster dog show finally moves down the learning curve

It took this long for judges at the Westminster Dog show to recognize the friggin' obvious?

Of course, Chester would have won this with one paw tied behind his back.

Uh huh. LOL

Seriously, Uno is widely regarded as the best beagle to be in competition for the last century. Truly an incredible animal.

We once found a beagle wandering around lost in our back yard. We couldn't figure out who the little guy belonged to -- no tags, no response to the signs we put up, and the local vets didn't know him.

We called him Buddy. He stayed with us for a while, but our other dog Sam got progressivly more jealous, and started to bite Buddy -- the last time, kind of seriously. So he went to a beagle rescue, and ultimately got adopted by an older couple, we were told.

What I can't figure out is how people manage to hold on to beagles. Every time we went out for a walk, Buddy would just plant his nose on the ground, make little "wonk, wonk, wonk" noises, and head off at a brisk pace in some direction. If you didn't catch him, he was gone. We let our other two dogs run and play in the field and ponds, and they don't bolt. But there's something about that intense sense of smell a Beagle has that makes them want to keep going.

If you have a beagle, you can pretty much never let that guy off the leash, can you? Barring a fenced yard, I mean.
